Weekly Wellness Tip
Stretching at your desk can be quick and easy way to improve flexibility which leaves your muscles feeling less tense. It also leaves you feeling refreshed.

For good sitting posture: Keep your spine strong, firm, and long from head to tailbone. Keep your muscles relaxed. Start standing, then bend at the hips, lean forward, and move the hips to the back of the chair. Sit down in the chair for a moment then return to standing. Move freely through a comfortable range of motion. If it hurts, move less or more slowly. Repeat several times then sit to do work.

Elbow pull back: Sit on the front part of a chair, feet firmly on the ground, back straight, and shoulders down. Draw the elbows backward and feel the shoulder blades move down and in.

Head tilt: Balance your head on top of the spine. Place one hand on the back of the head and pull upward, then glide the chin inward. This move will relax the neck and shoulders and stretch the back of the neck.

Take breaks often: Do these two moves to release tension in the back muscles and strengthen the core muscles.
(1) Rest arms on a firm surface, let the belly drop, and relax your muscles.
(2) Ab Pull-in: Start with belly dropped toward the floor and back neutral. Without moving the back or hips, draw in the abdominal muscles toward the spine.
